The well being of an individual and the society mainly depends on prevention of diseases and promotion of health. Life cannot be saved merely by medicines and surgeries. Nursing has an important role in health care delivery, may it be saving life or relieving from suffering. At Prasanna School of Nursing, students are taught about the ethical values of this noble profession and the art of serving the sick with compassionate and caring hand.

It is a well known fact that Nursing is a practicing profession interdependent on allied professions and occupations for promotion, restoring and maintaining health, and prevention of diseases. The opportunities for a Nurse in a modern world is more demanding with a wider perspective.


INSTITUTION

Prasanna School of Nursing is located at Ujire, near Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka which is often referred as the pearl of west coast which stands tall and proud for being better known as the “Model place of learning”- acclaimed to be the best in country. Strategically located amidst verdant greenery and the salubrious surroundings provides the right ambience for learning with easy accessibility.

Prasanna School of Nursing is a recognized Institution by the Govt. of Karnataka and Karnataka Nursing Council which imparts Diploma Course in general nursing and midwifery. The duration of the course is three years wherein students will gain a sound academic knowledge through our well backed professionally expertise faculty.


AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Nurses after having completed the 3 years and 6 months of GNM courses will be:

  • Able to work with other members of health team in the hospital and in the community, in the promotion of health, prevention of diseases, restoration of health and rehabilitation.
  • Competent to function as a member of the health team.
  • Competent to provide the comprehensive nursing care to the patients both in hospital and community.
  • Able to appreciate the necessity of belonging to the professional organization and self development.

All Courses Idea

Male/Female candidates are eligible to apply.

Should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st August of the year of admission to the programme. The upper age limit for admission is 30 years.

Should have passed the pre-university examination (10+2) in recognized university, preference will be given to the students with English, Physics, Chemistry , Biology as subjects of studies.

Should have passed the qualifying examination in not more than two attempts.

Should be physically fit- supported by a physical fitness certificate.

The candidate should ensure whether he/she possess the require qualification for admission.

The candidate is expected to as certain his/her course, especially if he/she has obtained the qualifying examination certificate from outside India.

Internship period: 6 months No student will be allowed to attend classes unless he/she compiles with all admission requirements and pays all the fees for the year. The fees structure is subject to change. Examination fees as specified by the Karnataka Board of examination, Bangalore shall be payable each examination.

Hostel facility is provided for students. They have to dine from the mess of the hostel and share the mess expense. They have to keep their hostel clean. It is not advisable to keep the valuables inside the hostel. The management will not take any responsibility for the loss or theft of valuables. Jewels and ornaments are not permitted inside the hospital of hostel.

Nursing profession which demands altruistic service from its members exacts self-discipline at a personal level and general discipline in the campus. Therefore:

  • Regular attendance as well as punctuality is expected from the students at lectures, demonstrations, practical, field work and other such academic exercises as well as in clinical experiences. They are require to attend the allotted working periods in each of the prescribed Subjects. Time missed from clinical experience for reasons other than permitted sick leave (10days) must be made up after completion of each academic year.
  • Students are also required to present themselves modest, meat and tidy in their dress avoiding exaggerated fashions.
